All Star Cheer and Dance National Competition
Last week Bill and I went to Dallas, Texas where everything is large. We covered the All Star Cheer and Dance National Competition put on by one of our commercial clients, Varsity.com.
Let me set the scene. Imagine 14,000 competitors packed into the Dallas Convention Center. Imagine the screaming teenagers and the pounding music. Imagine four different stages of cheering and dancing for two straight days.
If you’re wondering, yes, my head still hurts from covering the competition, but the upside was getting to shoot pure action.
Sometimes I miss my newspaper days when I shot lots of football, sports, and other types of news events. At first you might not think that photographing football or cheerleading has anything to do with wedding photography and wedding photographers, but really, the same skills apply.
Bill and I are very experienced at photographing the fleeting expressions, the telling details, the candid moments, and the pure pageantry of any activity, whether it be at a sporting event or at a wedding.

Our Favorite Wedding Venues in Northern Colorado – Fort Collins Country Club
It’s been awhile since we’ve discussed wedding venues so here is another installment of our favorite wedding spots. Since Bill and I have lots of experience photographing weddings around Denver, Fort Collins, Boulder, and other cities around Northern Colorado, we wanted to share some of our favorite wedding venues with you.

About Fort Collins Country Club
Fort Collins Country Club is located in Fort Collins, Colorado. The ballroom and the gazebo on the ground offer excellent views of the Rocky Mountains and of tranquil Long’s Pond. There is a wedding team at the country club that can assist with various aspects of wedding planning and coordinating. Whether you have an intimate wedding party (say 25 people) or a large wedding celebration (more than 200 people), Fort Collins Country Club will be able to accommodate you.

The Equipment We Use: Professional Lighting Equipment
Back again for another look at some of the equipment that Bill and I use when we cover weddings. Like I’ve mentioned before, the two of us have been doing wedding photography in Northern Colorado for some time now, so we’ve got our preferences for equipment and gear to use for each shoot.
Previously we discussed the digital cameras we use for wedding photography as well as the telephoto lenses we use for wedding coverage. Here we’ll discuss one more important set of equipment we use for taking wedding photographs.
Professional Lighting Equipment
We own a diverse collection of high-quality/studio-quality lighting equipment. When necessary, we can employ a number of different lighting techniques we’ve learned and developed over the years to help improve the appearance of your formal group portraits as well as those special bride and groom portraits.
Taken in combination, we’re really able to provide complete wedding coverage. Bill and I can help enhance the quality of a posed portrait and can also capture those spontaneous moments while remaining practically invisible.
